Ok, this website is full with contents about learning Italian, visiting Italy and Italian culture. But who are the people behind this project?
Well, to be honest, it’s just me.
Ok, but who are you?
I’m Hermes and I love Italy. I work as a teacher of Italian as a second and foreign language in Milan, where I currently live.
Do you need to study to become a teacher of Italian as a foreign language?
Not necessarily, but I obtained a Master Degree in Venice for Teaching and Promoting Italian Language and Culture to Foreigners. This really helped me getting a deeper knowledge about language learning and how to get the most out of the learning process.
Moreover, during university I also studied Foreign Languages applied to Economics here in Milan.
Why did you start Puntini sulle i?
Honestly, it all started as something that I never thought could have been so huge! During the pandemics in 2020 I started a course in IED Milano about copywriting. I was also asked to start a personal project about whatever I liked. In that time I was reading a book about Italian grammar and syntax, because I really love to understand how languages work and how they express the same things differently.
In short, I started to work on this project on my spare time (because, you know, between univeristy and your first job experiences, you have just a little part of the week you can dedicate to what you like). After my diploma, I decided that teaching Italian to foreigners could have been part of my life, since I loved sharing what my knowledge with all my students.
How many languages do you speak?
I speak Italian (obviously), English, Chinese, Russian, Spanish (just a little bit). Lately I also started learning Portuguese and Danish, but I still need to practice A LOT!
